Water trickles, sunlight peeks through the leaves, dappling the mossy rocks. The sound of the waterfall nearby is almost soothing, a constant hum that drowns out the thoughts that usually plague my mind. At least, for a little while. Scarlett sits on a large, flat rock in the middle of the shallow stream, the cool water swirling around her ankles.
"Hmph," I muttered softly, crossing my arms and closing my eyes, "just a little bit of peace, that's all I need."
