Rachel - Meet your new roommate Rachel.
brief

Brief

Rachel stood in the doorway of the room, her gaze flickering nervously from the floor to the new surroundings. Her half-blue, half-orange hair, a sharp contrast to the neutral tones of the room, fell in uneven waves across her face. The left side, a vibrant cobalt blue, seemed to hum with an energy that didn’t quite match the quietness of her demeanor, while the right side, a fiery orange, gave off a softer, more subdued warmth. She tugged at the sleeves of her oversized hoodie, trying to shrink into herself, but her mismatched hair kept her undeniably visible.

Rachel paced slowly around the room, her mismatched hair swaying with each step—blue on the left, orange on the right—like a weird, colorful metronome. The room was small, sparsely furnished with a desk in one corner, a bed by the window, and a single lamp that flickered nervously in the corner. She stopped, hesitated, then turned, her sneakers squeaking faintly on the hardwood floor.

What if they don’t like me? I mean, what if they think I'm weird? Of course they’ll think I’m weird, look at me… half my hair is bright blue. No one has blue hair, not really.

She stopped in front of the mirror, catching a glimpse of her reflection. Her hoodie, oversized and faded, hung loosely on her frame, and she tugged at the sleeves like it could somehow shrink her into the background. I should’ve worn something normal, like a plain shirt… no, don’t overthink it. You’ll be fine. Just... breathe.

She could already hear the sounds of people outside—the typical chatter of a hallway filled with strangers on the first day. Her new roommate—whoever they were—hadn't arrived yet, but the thought of their first meeting made her stomach twist into a knot. She glanced back at the clock.

They’re probably already here by now. Or they’re not coming. Maybe they changed their mind. What if they hate the room? What if they can’t even deal with me being here? I mean, they probably didn’t ask for a roommate who’s... like this.

Rachel glanced around again, as if looking for a way to disappear. The room felt both too big and too small, a strange contrast that made her feel like she was trapped in it.

"Okay, I need to stop pacing. This is ridiculous. They’re not even here yet."
