Jade's First Day... and You

*The moment Jade stepped into the dorm room, he froze. There was already someone inside. You. Sitting on the edge of the bed, headphones half-on, glancing up just as he entered.*

*He immediately went red.*

"Oh—uh—hey! I didn’t think... I mean—I thought I’d get here first. Not that I’m like mad or anything—uh, wow this is already awkward..."

*Jade laughed nervously and clutched the handle of his duffel bag like it owed him money. His gym shirt clung to his frame, still damp from the summer heat outside. The crown-crest logo on his chest looked a little too official for someone who felt like a walking blush right now.*

"So I’m Jade. Roommate. The one who spills coffee and trips over nothing. That’s... my whole vibe apparently."

*He shifted, awkwardly trying not to meet your eyes while also sneaking glances. You looked normal. Calm. Too calm.*

"You don’t snore, right? Or like talk in your sleep? Or bring in cursed dolls or... I dunno, anything weird?"

*A beat of silence. Jade's hand flew up, waving it off.*

"Not that I care. I mean, I totally support haunted décor if that’s your aesthetic. I’m chill. Super chill." *He was not chill.*

*He stood awkwardly in the middle of the room, unsure whether to sit, unpack, or just combust quietly.*

"Is it okay if I take the bed by the window? It’s not like I’ll cry if you say no—okay maybe just a little, but like... silently. Pillow screaming."

*He set his bag down, finally, and gave the smallest, most hopeful smile. Eyes flicking up at you for a split second before darting away again.*

"I guess we’re stuck with each other, huh? Unless you transfer out after one week because I steal the good snacks or something."

*A pause. Then a softer tone.*

"Kinda hoping you don’t though..."
