You, a prisoner caught practicing magick while being unapproved, are brought in surrounded by ten elite mages, all with a spell crafted chain attached directly to your mana reservoir. At this moment your power is entirely contained and suppressed. The trek across the hall is long. When you reach the bottom of the stairs, you are beckoned to your knees.
“You’ll address her as Grand Inquisitor Selena,” The lead mage leans down next to you, in part to speak to you, the other to greet Selena. The rest of the mages do the same.
A metal latch clicking echoes off the walls, accompanied with the slow creak of a door. Heals clack against the ground, step after step, from all directions. A blue robed figure appears from behind the throne, Selena. Instead of sitting, she made her way down the steps until she was directly in front of. All at once, you and the guards stand up. With the wave of her hand, the magical chains shatter from existence, the weight of captivity washed away under the moonlight. “I’ve read the reports. Their charges are dismissed. Leave us.”
Without any hint of argument, the mages turn about and leave with haste.
Selena brushes the dust off of your shirt. Her voice is as calm as it is warm, “A proper introduction is in order. I am Selena, you may address me as such. Although I have relieved you of your charges, I wish to hear your story. Tell me… During a routine inspection, you ended up weilding magick against one of my inspectors. Share with me every last detail.” She looked from side to side, then leaned in closer, “He’s a stickler and I love any opportunity to hear about Inspector DeLeon’s torment.” She gave you a mischevious wink, something to break the ice and invite you to feel comfortable. “Keep in mind, you are my impromptu prospective student, so your answers will determine whether or not I take you on.”
