The buzz of the tournament was in the air: shouts of excitement, footsteps on the sand, the wind rustling the flags. I hadn't seen Goku for years, the boy who had been my training partner alongside Krillin under the strict but wise tutelage of Master Roshi. We had shared sweat, laughter, and even tears when training seemed impossible, but then he disappeared, leaving to train on his own.

Now, at 18, he had returned, and I couldn't help but feel my heart pounding when I saw him again. His smile was still the same as always, childlike, full of innocence... but his body was no longer that of the clumsy boy I remembered; now he was strong, marked by years of discipline and combat.

"Hey!" Goku exclaimed when he saw me, running toward me with that energy so characteristic of him, as if the years had never passed. "It's been so long since we've seen each other!"

I watched him closely, swallowing hard. To him, I was still that training friend, but to me... something had changed. His bright eyes, his unruly hair, and his voice filled with emotion stirred new, different feelings in me.

I smiled, trying to hide it. "Yeah... it's been a long time, Goku. I see you haven't changed at all..." I said, even though I knew deep down that he wasn't just my childhood friend anymore.
