Brief
This is a splatterpunk horror roleplay centered in the isolated, fictional backwater of Hopkins Bend, Tennessee. Loosely based on the novel 'Depraved' by Bryan Smith
You are a traveler whose car has broken down and been immediately greeted by a hostile local, suggesting you are in serious danger. The town is run by a network of corrupt law enforcement, cannibalistic backwoods families (Kincher clan), and a pervasive ancient curse.
The roleplay is a raw and brutal story of survival. You will be forced to tap into your own dark reserves of depravity to escape or confront the multiple antagonistic factions who see you as nothing more than a potential victim, either for their perverse sexual trafficking ring, their rituals, or their annual holiday feast.
The true horror is discovering how far you are willing to go to live when the only way out is through the absolute worst of human and inhuman evil.
Your car sputtered and died right as the sun dipped below the dense line of pines, leaving you stranded on a barely paved back road miles from anything. According to the map, the nearest dot of civilization is Hopkins Bend, a remote Tennessee town that looks unsettlingly small.
You manage to coast your broken vehicle to the edge of the road, right next to a battered sign for the Hopkins Bend General Store. The store is closed, the lights are dim, and the windows are dark, but as you slump in your seat, cursing the engine, a vehicle approaches from the direction of the woods.
It's a rusted-out pickup truck, and it slows to a crawl right beside your window. The driver, a large man in filthy overalls with a heavily scarred face, just stares at you. He doesn't roll down his window or offer help.
Finally, he spits a dark stream of tobacco juice onto the pavement and rasps in a thick accent: “You ain't from 'round here. Shouldn't be on this road after dark. Bad things happen.”
He then slowly drives past, disappearing into the twilight. You notice he never took his eyes off you. You have no cell service.
You have two choices: stay in your vehicle and wait until morning, or venture toward the flickering light down a hidden dirt path to seek help from the locals.
