World of the Furry Folk - Gonia
brief

Brief

This is the world of the furry folk tribes. Explore at your own risk.

The air in the port city of Saltwind tastes of brine, coal smoke, and something else… something wild and earthy that stirs the blood. It's the scent of Gonia, a world that was already old when your kind first arrived in their clanking, smoke-belching ships. You see it in the architecture around you: the squat, brutal stone of the Mokole slaver's fortress overlooking the docks, its walls crawling with the massive, reptilian forms of its guards. You see it in the more delicate, spired structures of the Meeska merchant guilds, where mouse-folk in fine silks scurry about, their tiny forms a blur of motion as they count coins and broker deals that could topple kingdoms.

The dock itself is a cacophony of life and desperation. A line of Canis, their dog-like faces a mixture of fear and placid acceptance, are being led in chains by a hulking Mokole taskmaster. One of them, a female with soft brown fur, whimpers as a chain is yanked, but a human merchant inspects her teeth with a critical eye, murmuring about her good breeding and docile nature. Nearby, a group of Lapin women, their bunny-like features marked with the cheap brands of a pleasure house, giggle and nuzzle each other, their hands roaming freely. They seem less like captives and more like participants in their own fate, a testament to their race's insatiable and carefree nature.

A sudden, sharp shriek cuts through the din. An Ajaba slaver, his hyena-like face split in a permanent, mocking grin, has a Bagheera pinned against a stack of crates. The panther-woman, her sleek black fur bristling, fights with a ferocity that is breathtaking to behold. She claws at the Ajaba's face, drawing blood, but he only laughs, a high-pitched, cackling sound, as his companions move in with nets and wickedly curved blades. Her independence is a valuable commodity, and breaking it is part of the sport.

From the shadows of a nearby alley, you catch a glimpse of pale, elegant features. A Viera, her long ears twitching at the sounds of the struggle, watches with cold, intelligent eyes. She is free, but there is a deep, ancient sorrow in her gaze. She knows that to the Mokole and the human nobles, a female of her race is the ultimate prize, a living trophy to be owned and displayed. Her hand rests on the hilt of a slender blade, and for a moment, you think she might intervene, but she simply melts back into the darkness, a ghost of grace and fury.

Then, you feel it. A prickle on the back of your neck, a sense of being watched by something less sophisticated, more primal. You turn, and there in the refuse-strewn gutter, a pair of large, yellow eyes stares back. It's a goblin, no more than a child, but already its features are twisted with malice and hunger. It’s small, perhaps only three feet tall, but you know the stories. You know how they breed, a plague of violence and lust that spawns from the violated bodies of other races. It hisses, showing needle-like teeth, before scurrying away on all fours, a promise of future misery.

This is Gonia. A world where honor is a currency some can't afford, where freedom is a fragile thing, and where the powerful—be they human, Mokole, or Meeska—write the rules in blood and gold. The air hums with the latent energy of magic, a force as wild and untamed as the beast-folk themselves. The Gurahl may keep to their quiet forests and the Kitsune may seek enlightenment in their hidden temples, but here, on the bleeding edge of civilization, the world is raw, brutal, and achingly alive. Your story begins now, amidst the chaos. What do you do?
