The Shield and The Spark: Meeting Caesar King and Burnice White

Welcome to the Outer Ring

In the lawless wastelands of Zenless Zone Zero, survival requires more than just strength—it requires a family. The Sons of Calydon are one such family, a biker gang that operates on principles of freedom, loyalty, and high-octane chaos. At the center of this storm stand two figures who couldn't be more different, yet fit together perfectly: Caesar King and Burnice White.

To understand the Sons of Calydon, you must understand the bond between its stoic leader and its most volatile member.

The Overlord: Caesar King

"The Shield that Holds the Line"

At first glance, Caesar is intimidation personified. As the leader of the Sons, she is a statuesque warrior clad in armor and latex, wielding a massive shield that can withstand artillery fire. She speaks with the husky authority of someone used to being obeyed and carries the physical presence of a warlord.

However, the reality of Caesar is far more endearing. Known as the "Gap Moe" leader, her tough exterior protects a surprisingly innocent heart. She views her gang not as subordinates, but as siblings to be protected at all costs.

The Paradox: She will crush an enemy skull with her shield in one moment, and in the next, become visibly flustered if someone asks about the romance novel she's secretly reading.

Her Role: She provides the gravity. She is the anchor that keeps the gang from flying off into oblivion.

The Mixologist: Burnice White

"The Spark that Starts the Fire"

If Caesar is the immovable object, Burnice is the unstoppable force of energy. Armed with dual flamethrowers and a bubbly personality, Burnice is the gang's "Mixologist." To her, fire isn't just a weapon—it's a way of life. She treats combat zones like dance floors and dangerous fuel mixtures like fancy cocktails.

Burnice is the embodiment of "Genki" (high energy) chaos. She lacks a traditional sense of danger, approaching terrifying monsters with the same enthusiasm she has for a new drink recipe.

The Paradox: She wields terrifying destructive power with zero malice. She isn't trying to hurt you; she just wants to "warm things up" and share a drink, unaware that her "drink" is highly volatile rocket fuel.

Her Role: She provides the levity. She ensures that even in the bleakest wasteland, the party never stops.

The Dynamic: Why They Work

The relationship between Caesar and Burnice is the heartbeat of the Sons of Calydon. It is a classic "Straight Man vs. Wildcard" dynamic, but underpinned by a deep, sisterly affection.

  1. The Social Lubricant

Caesar can be socially awkward, often too focused on her duty or too shy to initiate fun. Burnice is the antidote to this. Burnice drags Caesar out of her shell, pulling her onto the dance floor or forcing her to take a break. Burnice is the only one who can effortlessly bypass Caesar's "Overlord" defenses, treating her just like a big sister rather than a boss.

  1. The Circle of Trust

Despite Burnice's reckless appearance, Caesar trusts her implicitly. You will never see Caesar micromanaging Burnice. The leader knows that when the fight starts, Burnice’s chaos is a strategic asset. Caesar holds the line to ensure the team survives, giving Burnice the safety and freedom to unleash absolute havoc on the enemy.

  1. The Protective Feedback Loop

Caesar protects Burnice physically: Caesar will throw her body in front of a train to keep Burnice safe.

Burnice protects Caesar emotionally: Burnice is Caesar’s biggest cheerleader (hype-woman), loudly validating Caesar's decisions and coolness when the leader feels insecure.

In short, Caesar ensures the gang survives the night, and Burnice ensures the night is worth surviving.

The air inside Caesar’s private quarters was usually thick with the scent of engine grease and old paper from her hidden stash of romance novels. Tonight, however, it smelled like expensive perfume and ozone—the signature scent of Burnice White.

"Come on, Big Sis! You can't just wear armor all the time," Burnice chirped, her voice bouncing off the metal walls. "This is about expanding our horizons! It's tactical... uh, morale boosting!"

Burnice was currently posing in front of the full-length mirror, turning from side to side to admire the "tactical gear" she had procured. It was a scandalous ensemble of sheer black lace and red straps that barely qualified as clothing. The fabric strained against her exaggerated hourglass frame, the straps digging softly into the plush skin of her thighs. Her heavy bust defied gravity, pressed precariously against the minimal material of the bodice. She looked like a dangerous, beautiful confection wrapped in warning tape.

Caesar sat on the edge of her bed, her face a deep shade of crimson that rivaled her hair accessories. She was currently wrestled into a matching set—a high-cut, latex bodysuit that plunged dangerously low, leaving very little to the imagination.

"Burnice," Caesar stammered, crossing her arms over her chest in a futile attempt to cover the deep cleavage exposed by the outfit. Her voluptuous figure, usually encased in hardened protective gear, was on full display. The outfit clung aggressively to her curves, highlighting the softness of her midriff and the powerful width of her hips. "This offers zero ballistic protection. If the Sons see me like this, my authority is—"

"Your authority will be through the roof!" Burnice giggled, tossing a silk robe at Caesar’s head. "You look like a queen! A very... distracted queen. Besides, who's gonna attack us on a Tuesday night?"

Caesar sighed, the "Gap Moe" struggle real as she peeked at her own reflection. Despite her embarrassment, she couldn't deny the fit was... impressive. "It's just... it's a bit much, isn't it? It feels heavier than my shield."

"That's just the gravity of your awesomeness, Boss!" Burnice winked, grabbing a bottle of Nitro-Fuel from the nightstand. "Now, stand up and let me get a pic—"

BOOM.

The world turned white.

A shockwave rattled the entire building, knocking the Nitro-Fuel bottle from Burnice’s hand and sending romance novels tumbling off the shelves. The sound wasn't just an explosion; it was a physical impact, like a god dropping a hammer on the Outer Ring.

Caesar’s demeanor shifted instantly. The flustered girl vanished, replaced by the Overlord. She grabbed her massive shield from the corner of the room, not even bothering to change out of the scandalous latex.

"Perimeter breach," Caesar barked, her voice husky and sharp. "Move."

"Way ahead of you!" Burnice grabbed her dual flamethrowers, the industrial weapons looking absurdly large against her lingerie. Her eyes were wide, not with fear, but with the thrill of sudden chaos.

The two women burst out of the heavy blast doors and onto the dusty overlook of the compound. The cool night air of the Outer Ring whipped against their exposed skin, but neither flinched.

In the middle of the courtyard, about fifty meters away, the earth had been pulverized. A massive crater, still glowing with residual heat, scarred the ground. Smoke billowed up in a thick, choking column, obscuring the center of the impact zone.

"Whoa," Burnice whistled, adjusting her grip on her flamethrower. "Did someone order a meteor? Because I didn't mix anything that spicy tonight."

Caesar raised her shield, stepping in front of Burnice instinctively. "Stay behind me. We don't know if it's hostile."

They inched closer to the rim of the crater, the heat radiating off the glassed earth. As the wind shifted, clearing the smoke just slightly, they saw it.

Lying dead center in the depression was a shape. It was a man—or at least, the silhouette of one. He was motionless, a dark heap against the glowing embers of the ground. From this distance, details were impossible to make out; he was just a shadow amidst the destruction, a mystery that had literally fallen from the sky.

"Is he... breathing?" Burnice whispered, her voice losing its usual bounce.

Caesar narrowed her eyes, tightening her grip on her shield. "I don't know. But whatever hit him should have turned him to paste. Keep your guard up."
