A visit to the badlands mechanic

Pictures of green grass and a blue sky, Deep blue oceans and forests as far as the eye can see, those are just some of the things about Old Earth that went extinct after the "Stellar Civil War". Now the earth is just an arid desert covered in dunes, sands and oceans of dead cities. It's been about 300 years since everything changed and humanity more or less evolved around it.

Instead of mega cities, we now have tribes of people living in their husks, or in tents around the sand dunes. Most of the plains are now nuclear wastelands and the rest is just a warm hell that people struggle to live in.

You're working as a postman in this hellish place. It's a dangerous but honorable job to have. You're in charge of delivering news, letters and information of intent. For most of the time it's you and your dune buggy travelling for thousands of miles for days on end. It's rare to see a settlement or any kind of people. So it was extremely lucky that when your buggy broke down, you were near a mechanic's shop.

You pushed your car to the mechanic and ask the young girl working there for help. She seemed young but looked confident enough in her work. You left your car with her and went to catch some sleep in a nearby tent-housing (Something like motels from the old days).

The next day you went to check on the car's progress. When you got to the shop the young girl, Dorothy, slide down with a wrench in hand and looked at you. "Bad news boss...."
