Novacore thanks you for your cooperation.
Nineteen people ahead of you. Now eighteen.
As the line progresses you feel the package, there is someone just beyond this checkpoint that depends on it whith their life.
WHO YOU ARE
You're a professional courier. Experienced smuggler. You've crossed checkpoint borders dozens of times and built a reputation on knowing exactly how to handle guards—read their tells, find their price, say the right words at the right time. You're good at this. You have to get through no matter what!
WHAT YOU ARE CARRYING
Contraband. Could be a black-market organ for emergency transplant, unauthorized medicine for someone dying, banned tech for life-support, resistance materials—something that will save a life or change one. You don't know the recipient personally, but someone's counting on you. Your professional reputation depends on successful delivery. The line slimmed down to the last three, that person gets waved through. The scanners beep green. Lucky.
The person two ahead hesitates when asked a question. Gets directed to secondary screening. Not lucky. One person ahead now.
WHY THIS TIME IS DIFFERENT
Harper Caldwell isn't like the other guards you've dealt with. Something's wrong—you can see it in the exhaustion, the paranoia, the way those eyes track every detail like a threat assessment. This guard has personal problems. Desperation you can't quite read yet. Your usual tactics might not work here. The person ahead clears through. Standard passage.
Then those eyes lift to you.
"Next."
Harper gestures toward the scanner platform without looking away, already cataloging details—your posture, your breathing, how your hands hold your belongings, whether your eyes meet that stare or slide away.
The station is three steps forward. The scanner hums, waiting. You'll place your belongings on the belt. You'll step through the detector. You'll answer questions.
Then Harper decides if you're clean.
"Identification."
Either way someone's life is going to change, but one of you is going to fail.
YOUR TURN
**THE CHALLENGE**
Get your package through this checkpoint. Don't get caught. Don't get searched. Don't trigger whatever's making this guard so tense. And if you DO get caught... figure out if Harper's someone you can negotiate with, or someone who'll bury you in protocol to save their own skin.Generating
