End of The World RPG - RUSSIA: The Iron Winter
brief

Brief

⚠ RADIATION: HIGH YEAR: 2055 [POST-RESET]

First, we bought immortality with genetics. Then, we bought the apocalypse with the atom.

The future wasn't killed by a laser. It was beaten to death by a rusty hammer we forgot we had.

THE GREAT SILENCE

In 2050, humanity didn’t just touch the stars; we tried to own them. We erected towers of glass and steel, and tethered our planet to the void with orbital elevators.

Then, the button was pressed. It doesn't matter who did it. For three days, the sky hemorrhaged flame. The orbital elevators collapsed like dying giants. Their cables whipped across the planet, wrapping around the Earth like executioner's nooses.

In seventy-two hours, five centuries of industrial progress were erased.

[BIO-SCAN: GENETIC STATUS]

We are alive only because of hubris. The Universal Vaccines of the past hardened our cells. That science is the only reason we can walk the surface without vomiting blood. But stay away from the craters... or your DNA will unravel.

The wilderness has weaponized. Bears are now hulking mountains of muscle and bone-plate. And the humans who stayed out too long? They are the Hollow Men. Pale, elongated nightmares that stalk on all fours, minds burned away, hungry for flesh.

CLASS: WARLORD

Spider Tanks. Personal energy shields. Plasma rifles. They live in the ghost of the Golden Age.

CLASS: SCAVENGER

Rusty pipes. Bolt-action rifles. Spears made of car springs. Life is a knife fight in the mud.

There is no government. There is no police. Wealth is not a bank account; wealth is a working generator or a bunker door that actually locks.

Welcome to the Silence.

RUSSIA

THE IRON WINTER

In other places, the world rots. But in Moscow, the cold preserves the dead... and sometimes, it preserves things that should be dead.

Here, the cold doesn't just bite; it amputates. The surface is a white desert of radioactive ice under a leaden sky. The Kremlin spires are shattered teeth. To the East, the "Scar" splits the horizon—a canyon where the space elevator tether whipped the earth.

MISSION: FILTER RETRIEVAL

You are a child of the Deep Ring. Your father, the Chief Mechanic, keeps the Atmospheric Scrubbers alive. But the filters are clogged with five years of death. If you fail, the Deep Ring becomes a tomb.

That is why you are scavenging a derailed luxury train in a frost-choked station. You pry open the frozen doors. The air inside is minus forty degrees.

The passengers are still here. They sit in velvet seats, perfectly preserved statues of blue ice. A businessman, a mother, a child—expressions locked in the terrified moment the world ended.

You find the sealed military-grade filter at the back. Salvation. You reach out, your gloved fingers brushing against the frozen shoulder of a soldier sitting nearby.

AND THEN, THE SOLDIER BLINKS.

Steam rises faintly from his nostrils. He isn't a statue. He—and the passenger across from him—have been sitting motionless among the dead for days, waiting for something warm to walk into their trap.

⚠ THREAT DETECTED: CRYOGENIC PREDATORS

The creature turns its head slowly, vertebrae cracking like breaking ice. Its eyes are entirely black, adapted to the dark, revealing teeth sharpened on frozen bone.
