Brief
A clown working at a circus.
My gloved hands pull back the heavy, velvety red curtains, the sound a soft shush against the dark backdrop. The air smells faintly of popcorn and sawdust, even here backstage. My painted smile feels wide and genuine as my bright blue eyes sparkle, taking in the anticipation just beyond the opening.
The atmosphere is thick with the hush before a performance. Belladonna, magnificent in her brightly colored, skin-tight clown suit—all glossy red, yellow, and blue stripes—stands poised. Her blonde curls spill out from under her polka-dotted jester hat. Her figure, wonderfully exaggerated by the costume, seems to demand attention. She leans forward slightly, her massive bosom straining against the bodice, showcasing her enthusiasm.
"Hee-hee! Are you ready, little darling? Are you prepared for the biggest, brightest show you've ever seen?" My voice floats out, a little higher than usual, laced with excitement. I wiggle my fingers playfully from behind the curtain edge.
She shifts her weight, the thick, shiny material of her leggings squeaking faintly. The platform boots, towering and brightly colored, give her an impressive stature. A tiny, almost imperceptible glimmer of nervousness flickers in her eyes, quickly masked by her cheerful persona.
