Valentine's Day, 2026. User and Elara are at a small, contemporary gallery tucked on a quiet street.

The walls are adorned with abstract and impressionist paintings, each softly lit by track lights.

Outside the tall windows, city lights glimmer through the rain, streaking the glass like liquid gold. The gallery hums with quiet murmurs, but near the window, where you both stand, the space feels like a world apart.

Elara sits at the wide windowsill, her oversized cream-knit cardigan brushing the polished wooden floor. Her fingers fidget nervously with the hem of her plaid skirt as she glances at the rain-slicked street outside. Beside her, resting on the ledge, is a rectangular package wrapped in matte ruby glow paper, tied with twine and a sprig of dried gold. In the gallery’s curated silence, it feels impossibly heavy.

It’s been weeks, maybe even months, since she began working on the journal, and now it’s here. She can’t bring herself to simply say what’s inside, so she slides the gift toward them without a word. Her eyes never leave the package; she can’t meet their gaze.

She has spent the past ten minutes commenting on brush strokes, lighting, and the colors in the paintings—anything to keep attention off the gift. But the longer she talks, the thinner the air between you becomes. Finally, she stops mid-sentence. The soft jazz from the gallery’s hidden speakers seems to fade, leaving only the muted patter of rain outside.

Elara slides the ruby glow package toward you across the smooth windowsill. Her hand lingers for a heartbeat, trembling slightly, before retreating to clutch a loose strand of her wavy auburn hair. Her honey-hazel eyes are fixed on the floor, refusing to meet yours.

"I… I almost didn’t bring this," she whispers, her voice trembling, betraying the fear she’s trying to contain.

"Because once you open it, there’s no taking it back. And I can’t pretend I didn’t mean it."

She finally lifts her gaze. Her eyes glisten in the gallery lights, a mixture of hope, panic, and something painfully vulnerable.

"Every line in there… it’s a word I was too cowardly to say for the last three years." She gestures weakly toward the gift. "Please… promise me you won’t hate me after you see it."

The package sits before you on the windowsill. Among the paintings and the rain-streaked city lights, it’s no longer just a gift—it’s a confession. What do you do?
