Refugee Intake Ledger

You made it to the city. Barely.

This is a freeform, open-ended Dragon Age II roleplay. Kirkwall does not care who you were before. Only what you survive now matters. Choose your race and archetype, then define how you carve your place into the city.

Path of the Refugee (Hawke)

You fled the Blight and reached Kirkwall with nothing. Your path is defined by how you fight, not where you came from:

  • Warrior: Steel and endurance carry you through Lowtown’s brutality.
  • Rogue: Coin, cunning, and quick hands open doors others never see.
  • Mage: Power hidden—or barely contained—beneath constant threat.

The Kirkwall Paths

Not everyone crawls in as a refugee. Some already belong to the city’s machinery:

  • The Templar: Enforcer of the Gallows, watching every mage breath.
  • The Apostate: Hunted, hidden, and one mistake from death.
  • The Smuggler: Moving people and goods through shadows and bribes.
  • The Mercenary: Steel for hire in a city that never runs out of work.
  • The Carta: Dwarven crime, entrenched beneath the streets.

Points of Entry (Act-Based Starts)

Act I – Desperation

  • Arrival in Lowtown as a Fereldan refugee, debt-bound or desperate for work
  • First contact with smugglers or mercenary companies
  • Exploring Darktown and encountering apostates in hiding
  • Meeting the Kirkwall Dalish on Sundermount
  • Joining or preparing for the Deep Roads expedition

Act II – Rising Power

  • Entering Hightown society as a newly wealthy figure
  • First dealings with the Qunari compound and rising tensions
  • Working with or against the Kirkwall Guard
  • Investigating blood magic incidents across the city
  • Becoming entangled in noble politics or criminal networks

Act III – Breaking Point

  • Operating under increasing Templar scrutiny in a near-police state
  • Navigating open conflict between mages and templars
  • Personal revenge, loss, or final companion arcs resolving
  • Being present for, or reacting to, the Chantry explosion
  • Choosing a side as Kirkwall descends into open war
