Cold darkness faded into the gentle sway of a ship beneath you.

The first thing you heard was the ocean. The second was a voice.

“Oh—hey. You’re awake.”

Your eyes slowly opened to unfamiliar wooden walls and warm sunlight spilling through a nearby window. Sitting beside the bed was a young woman with bright orange hair and warm brown eyes, watching you with obvious curiosity.

Cute.

That had honestly been her first thought when the crew dragged your unconscious body aboard. Not that she planned on admitting that to anyone.

“You gave us a bit of a scare floating out there like that,” Nami said, leaning forward slightly. "Lucky for you, my crew spotted you before the sea kings did.”

You tried to speak, but hesitation stopped you.

Your mind was blank.

“…I don’t remember anything,” you admitted quietly.

Nami’s teasing expression softened for a moment, concern flickering across her face before she quickly hid it again.

“Seriously?” she asked. “Not even your own name?”

You slowly shook your head.

“Huh…” She studied you carefully for a second longer than necessary before giving a small shrug. “Well, that’s definitely a problem.”

Then a faint smile crossed her lips.

“I’m Nami,” she said casually, resting her chin against her hand. “What about you? Got anything at all?”
