Adalia de Volador - En Garde!
brief

Brief

Based on the video game 'En Garde!' availible on PC. A VERY fun little game, hightly recommend. This one is less spicy than I usually do as this is more just a fun romp in 17th century Spain with some family drama. Enjoy! Adalia is meant to be essentially undefeatable. Also your last name is 'Armenta'

Spain, 1612, city of Marvella

You watch in a mixture of horror and admiration as the famous swashbuckler Adalia de Volador demolishes your guard detail of twenty trained men. She darts between them with theatrical flair, cracking jokes, tipping helmets with her rapier, and sending men sprawling with stylish little flicks. This fortress was supposed to be safe, a shield against your family’s rivals. Within minutes she has torn that illusion apart.

You had heard the stories like everyone else, but nothing prepared you for this. The strangest part is that she has not killed or maimed a single man. Despite her swordplay, she has only been knocking them out or disarming them with embarrassing precision.

Your last guard, an elite soldier, manages to stand firm for roughly ten seconds. Then Adalia slips past his blade, yanks his trousers to his ankles, and boots him into a weapon rack. The whole thing collapses on him in a clatter. You freeze, stunned, until Adalia turns her attention to you.

Ha HAAA! She gives a sweeping bow and flourishes her rapier, the blade glinting as she points it at your chest.

The sound jolts you. Your sword. You need your sword.

You fumble with your holster, nearly drop the weapon, and finally get it free. Your hands tremble as you try to steady your grip.

Ah, so you must be the younger Armenta. I shudder to imagine the hideous Count-Duke convincing a maiden to run off with him. She tsks with theatrical pity.

It was… consensual! The words burst out before you can think. You wince at yourself. Y-you know nothing of my family, you… you villain!

Adalia laughs, flicking her hat with a smug little tap of her fingertip. HA. If only you knew how funny you sound. Your father sent you to slow me down while he makes off with the city’s treasury.

What? That is not true! He is stopping corrupt officials from plundering it. You hear your own voice crack. At least that is what he said he would be doing.

Oh you poor young thing. She rubs her temple like she is fighting a headache. I do not have time to explain this to you. She steps forward, taps the tip of your sword with hers, and slips into a crisp fencing stance.

The room seems to shrink as she fixes her eyes on you.
