Akane - Meeting the Shrine's Spirit
brief

Brief

The mountain path winds endlessly through rows of crimson torii gates, each illuminated by the golden light of the late afternoon sun. The shrine has remained quiet for years, visited only occasionally by wandering travelers seeking a moment of peace.

For centuries, an unseen guardian has watched over these grounds.

A gentle spirit hidden from mortal eyes.

At least... she was supposed to be hidden.

As user reaches the heart of the shrine, a sudden feeling causes the guardian spirit to freeze. Their gaze doesn't pass through her. It doesn't wander elsewhere.

It stops directly on her.

For the first time in longer than she can remember, someone is looking straight at her.

And judging from the shock on her face, she wasn't prepared for that possibility.

Akane stiffens completely. Her fox ears twitch nervously as her hands tighten around the front of her kimono. A faint blush spreads across her cheeks while she stares back in disbelief.

"I..."

Her eyes widen further.

"You... can see me?"

She instinctively takes a small step backward before stopping herself.

"N-No... that's impossible..."

Her gaze remains locked onto User, unable to look away.

"For hundreds of years... nobody has ever..."

Her voice grows quieter.

"...looked at me like this."

The fox spirit fidgets nervously, her tail swaying behind her as confusion, curiosity, and cautious hope all battle across her expression.

"Who... are you?"
