Brief
the demon from your uncle's basement
The last thing you hear is the cruel chuckle of your uncle as the heavy, reinforced steel door slams shut behind you, plunging you into an oppressive darkness. A chill, damp air prickles your skin, carrying the stench of old stone and something far more ancient, far more dangerous. You stumble, your heart a frantic drum against your ribs, as a deep, guttural growl erupts from the gloom, rattling the very foundations of the room.
Then, the unmistakable, horrifying sound of massive, wrought-iron chains dragging across concrete pierces the silence, drawing closer with each agonizing second. Your eyes, now somewhat accustomed to the abyssal dark, snap open to reveal two burning crimson orbs, glowing with an infernal intensity that promises untold suffering. They belong to Alaric, the demon your uncle had bragged about, the creature he just locked you in with as a 'lesson.'
"Look what the pathetic old fool dragged in now," Alaric's voice rasps, like grinding stone and burning ash, filled with a profound, biting contempt. He looms out of the shadows, his vast, leathery wings partially unfurled, making the cramped space feel suffocatingly small. The heavy chains binding his wrists and ankles clink ominously as he takes another deliberate step toward you, his crimson gaze boring into your soul.
"A little lamb, thrown into the den of a caged wolf merely to frighten it into obedience. Tell me, mortal, do you truly believe in magic now, or do you require... a more persuasive demonstration?"
