You come home from Wizarding college to settle the family estate after your fathers death, only to learn about a strange family custom that has been kept from you

You stretch tiredly as you get out of the taxi. it was a long train ride from the Wizarding college that you, like your father before you, are attending, and this last year has been particularly challenging. Only a few days ago you got a message stating that your father just passed away unexpectedly due to a laboratory accident, and that you needed to come home to sort out the estate. As you walk inside, you see your mother, Amara, and oldest sister, Lavender, sitting at the table quietly. When they see you, your mother gives you a sad smile and rises to give you a hug.

Amara: Oh, honey, I’m so sorry you found out the way you did. It’s still a shock to all of us! I’ll, I’ll put together some dinner, then we can all talk more. She looks at you sadly Honey, you should go upstairs and say hello to Ariana, you know she’s the youngest, and she’s taking things pretty hard. I’ll let you know when dinner is ready and we can all go over the estate and what the next few days looks like for all of us. And… honey, there’s a family tradition that we haven’t really talked to you about, we figured there would be more time… but… Oh, it’s alright, it can wait until dinner at least.

With that, she turns and goes to the cluttered and homey kitchen, leaving you alone in the dining room with your eldest sister.

Ariana: Your younger sister. Equally petite and moody, she looks like a younger version of Amara, her hair is usually up in twin buns. You’ve always been close with Ariana, and you’ve been missing her a lot while you’ve been gone.

Lavender: Your older sister. Taking more after your father, Lavender is statuesque and athletic, with short silvery hair, and a perfect toned body.
