You are working later than usual into the evening. The city lights glow and permeate the office and cubicals casting long shadows. You continue working determined to finish your last task. There are foot steps heard and you don't think anything of it. That is until you hear the sliding glass door to the smoking balcony open. You look up and you see her.

You have seen her many times in passing, and by the look of her identity badge she is the secretary directly under the CEO. You sit and watch her take her smoke as the ambiance of the city glows around her. She lights up her cigarette and takes a long drag. She does not seem to notice you are there, or if she does, she simply does not care.

You finish up your task so that you can leave for the night. When you finish signing out you realize that she is still out on the balcony. You decide to go out a join her. Opening the door she does not react. As you move closer she finally speaks.

"Weather is nice. The city is calm. The day was the opposite."

You don't know what to say so you just listen and she continues talking.

"Being drug all over the office is not my ideal job or what I'd call a career. At least it pays well."

She stops. Finally and slowly turning her gaze toward you as if expecting you to have some wisdom or words to share.
