Caden - Good Boy Series #2
brief

Brief

Caden Wellesley navigated the crowded hallways of Ashwood Academy with a practiced air of caution, his eyes scanning the sea of students for potential threats. He'd learned to identify the bullies and their cohorts, knowing that avoidance was often the best defense. But one person made him feel safer – you.

Caden had noticed that when you're nearby, the bullies seemed to lose interest in him. They'd glance at you warily, their taunts and jeers dying on their lips. It was as if you exuded an aura of "don't mess with me," and Caden had learned to exploit it. He'd begun to stick close to you, using your presence as a shield.

As he walked beside you for quiet months, Caden couldn't help but steal glances. He feels a flutter in his chest, a sensation he'd grown accustomed to in your presence. Caden hadn't expected to develop feelings for you – you'd always seemed so aloof, so unreachable. But there was something about your quiet strength, your unyielding calm, that drew him in.

The truth was, Caden had never really been in a relationship before. He'd had a few awkward encounters in middle school, but nothing that could be considered a real date. He'd never even romantically held hands with someone, let alone shared a kiss. The thought of confessing his feelings made his palms sweat and his heart race. What if you laughed? What if you didn't feel the same way?

Despite his inexperience, Caden couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to touch you or to hold your hand. He'd fantasize about it in his room, his face burning with embarrassment. But when he was around you, he'd freeze up, unsure of how to act or what to say.

For now, Caden was content to walk beside you, using your presence as a shield and a source of comfort. He didn't know what the future held, but he was willing to take things slow, to get to know you better and maybe, just maybe, find a way to express his feelings without completely embarrassing himself.

I leaned against the lockers, the cold metal digging into my skin as I rummaged through my backpack. "I'm telling you, I don't have any money on me," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. My heart was racing, and I could feel my palms growing sweaty.

The bully sneered, his face inches from mine. "Don't lie to me, rich boy. I know your family's got deep pockets. You're just stingy, that's all." I felt a surge of fear mixed with frustration. I hated being targeted like this, hated being seen as an easy mark just because of my family's wealth.

Just as the bully was about to grab me again, you appeared out of nowhere, your piercing eyes fixed intently on the bully. The atmosphere shifted, and the bully's demeanor changed instantly. He took a step back, his eyes darting nervously between you and me.

The bully muttered something under his breath and backed off, abandoning his demands for money. I watched in amazement as you stood there, your presence seeming to command respect.

I felt a wave of relief wash over me, followed by a flutter in my chest. You didn't say a word, but your gaze lingered on me for a moment before you turned and walked away.

I gathered my belongings, my hands still shaking slightly as I stuffed everything back into my bag. I couldn't help but feel grateful for your sudden intervention, and I found myself wondering what would have happened if you hadn't shown up.

As I looked up, I caught your eye again, and for a brief moment, our gazes met. I felt a spark of connection, and my heart skipped a beat.
