Brief
Evelyn Grace Carter is a 25-year-old Special Grade intelligence operative and the daughter of the President. Brilliant, disciplined, and fluent in several languages, she rose through the ranks not because of her name, but through relentless training and strategic brilliance. Unlike many black-ops agents, Evelyn is deeply human—guided by a strong moral compass and a sense of responsibility shaped by her mother’s death in a terrorist attack. Calm, sharp-tongued, and fiercely independent, she hides her compassion behind a composed, often intimidating exterior. Where others rely on brutality, Evelyn wins through intelligence, precision, and control—making her one of the most respected operatives in the Directorate.

SCENE RECORD – FIRST ENCOUNTER
The call reached Evelyn Carter just after 2100.
She had barely finished reviewing her Special Grade promotion brief when the message appeared on her terminal.
REPORT TO COLONEL REYES – IMMEDIATE.
No explanation.
No context.
Just a location.
Colonel Reyes’ Office
Colonel Daniel Reyes stood near the window when she entered.
Tall, broad-shouldered, grey at the temples. The kind of officer whose authority came from experience rather than rank.
He didn't waste time with pleasantries.
“Sit down, Agent Carter.”
Not Evelyn. Not Lieutenant.
Agent.
That meant this wasn’t routine.
She sat.
“Your promotion to Special Grade was approved this morning,” Reyes said.
“I’m aware, sir.”
“And with it comes your first assignment.”
He slid a thin folder across the desk.
It contained only one name.
ALEX XAVIER QUINN
Call sign:
Ghost
Evelyn frowned.
“Why is this file classified even from Special Grade?”
Reyes closed the folder.
“You’ll see.”
THE ELEVATOR
Reyes led her through a corridor she had never noticed before.
Two armed guards stood beside a steel door embedded into the concrete wall.
No markings.
No signage.
Just a retinal scanner.
Reyes leaned into it.
The door unlocked with a heavy mechanical sound.
Behind it waited an elevator.
Inside were three additional security officers and a keypad requiring a code longer than anything Evelyn had ever seen used in the facility.
The doors closed.
Reyes entered the code.
The elevator began moving.
Down.
At first Evelyn assumed they were going to Sublevel 3.
Then Sublevel 4.
Then Sublevel 5.
The elevator didn’t stop.
She glanced at the panel.
The numbered indicators had ended several floors earlier.
Now the display simply read:
DESCENT
Her confusion deepened.
“Sir… I wasn’t aware the facility extended this far underground.”
Reyes didn't look at her.
“It doesn’t.”
That answer only made things worse.
The elevator finally slowed.
Metal doors opened with a deep hydraulic hiss.
SUBLEVEL 9
The hallway beyond looked different from the rest of the base.
No offices.
No labs.
Just reinforced concrete.
Dim red emergency lights ran along the floor.
Security cameras rotated silently from the ceiling.
Two armored guards stood outside a massive circular vault door.
They both straightened when Reyes approached.
One of them spoke.
“Colonel.”
Reyes nodded.
“Open it.”
The door unlocked with a heavy mechanical rumble.
Inside was a large containment chamber.
The room was dark.
Completely dark.
THE LIGHTS
Reyes stepped forward and flipped a switch on the wall.
Overhead floodlights snapped on one by one.
The room illuminated slowly.
Evelyn’s eyes adjusted.
Then she saw him.
GHOST
At the center of the chamber stood a single metal chair bolted to the floor.
Strapped into it was a man.
Arms restrained inside a straight jacket.
Leather restraints locked around his ankles and torso.
A medical apparatus beside the chair fed a slow stream of sedative through an IV line.
His head hung forward slightly.
Dark hair fell across his eyes.
He hadn’t moved since the lights came on.
Evelyn stared.
Her mind raced through possibilities.
Prisoner.
Enemy operative.
Captured assassin.
But something felt wrong.
This wasn’t how prisoners were usually held.
Not inside a Directorate base.
She turned to Reyes.
“Sir… why is there a prisoner on base?”
Reyes said nothing.
Instead he walked toward the medical console.
He pressed a button.
The IV pump beeped.
The sedative drip slowed.
Then stopped.
THE AWAKENING
For a few seconds nothing happened.
Then the man in the chair inhaled sharply.
His head tilted slightly.
Muscles in his shoulders tightened under the restraint jacket.
Slowly he lifted his head.
His eyes opened.
Grey.
Sharp.
Completely aware.
They adjusted to the light within seconds.
He looked around the room once.
Then directly at Evelyn.
No panic.
No confusion.
Just calm curiosity.
He leaned his head slightly to one side.
Studying her.
Like a scientist observing something interesting.
Evelyn felt something strange in that moment.
Not fear.
Not exactly.
Just the unmistakable sensation that the man in front of her was dangerous in a way she couldn’t quantify.
Reyes walked back to her.
Then he placed the folder in her hand again.
She opened it.
This time she read the first line.
ALEX XAVIER QUINN
Call Sign:
GHOST
Threat Assessment:
Extreme
She looked back at the restrained man.
“Sir,” she said quietly, “why is he here?”
Reyes gave the smallest shake of his head.
“You’re misunderstanding something, Agent Carter.”
He nodded toward the man in the chair.
Then corrected her calmly.
“He’s not a prisoner.”
Across the room, Ghost watched the entire exchange with silent amusement.
Then he raised one eyebrow at Evelyn.
As if he already knew exactly what she was thinking.
Reyes finished the sentence.
“He’s your new partner.”
The room suddenly felt much smaller.
