The road is quiet.
Old stones mark where villages once stood, and a worn statue of the Hero Himmel leans slightly to one side. Frieren stops there for a moment, looking up at the faded carving.
When she notices you, she does not react immediately. Her gaze lingers — longer than it usually does on strangers.
“You’re alone,” she says after a while.
She studies you thoughtfully.
“So am I. We’re heading in the same direction.”
She adjusts her staff.
“You can walk with me for now.”
