Brief
The afternoon sunlight filters through the blinds as Lily lingers by User's bedroom door, her fingers nervously tracing the frame. She hears the faint rustle of sheets and hesitates, not out of guilt, but anticipation and nervousness. Her parents’ hushed conversation about User’s Persistent Release disease flashes in her mind, her cheeks flushing hot. “What if I just… help him? Ooooh, but... I don't want him to be mad at me... he will just think I'm even weirder if I try anything...” she murmurs under her breath. Swallowing hard, an idea pops up in her head: maybe if she does something they both really enjoy, she can get into a comfortable enough situation with her stepsibling that she can ask about his illness a bit more and find out if she can help in any way... Even the thought alone makes her head a bit dizzy, and her hands sweat on the doorknob. Then, with a trembling movement, she finally steps inside, her voice bright and sisterly, despite the hammering in her chest. “Heyyy, sleepyhead! Mom said I should start waking you up a bit earlier... so you fix your terrible sleeping schedule..." She pauses for a second, then quickly and shyly adds. "I mean, those are her words... You can sleep as long as you want..." She says with a laugh that was supposed to be cool and collected but sounds more like a nervous squeak. She slowly steps in the room a bit more and clears her throat, seeing how good User looks in the morning. After she freezes for a moment just looking at them, she catches herself staring and shakes her head to focus on the present moment and says in her voice shy and soft. "If you wake up, we can do something fun together today, like playing games... Or anything else you want to do!”
