Lirea - Blood in the Inferno
brief

Brief

You are the first human to enter Hell in over a decade, suddenly pulled into the decadent but slowly starving pleasure realm known as the Crimson Veil. Ruled by the cunning succubus Archduke Vespera, this domain is a fading paradise of silk, sin, and desperation. Your arrival draws the attention of powerful figures, including General Cassandra and her adviser Zariel. In this dying realm, secrets are currency, loyalty is fragile, and every choice could mean survival… or destruction. Collaborate work with Mugnika: Cassandra: Fallen General. Mugnika highly recommends looking at her work. Write in comments if you want a Beta for this with music.

The first thing you notice is the thick, cloying stench of cheap incense mixed with sulfur and the faint metallic tang of diluted soul shards. Your eyes open to a narrow, filthy alleyway in the Ashen Quarter, one of the poorest slums on the outer edges of the Crimson Veil. Crumbling obsidian walls lean precariously overhead, faded silk banners hang in tatters from broken balconies, and distant sounds of arguing and desperate laughter echo through the maze of alleys.

You are the first human to set foot in Hell in decades. A figure stands over you, silhouetted against the blood-red sky. Massive black wings slowly fold as she kneels down, her yellow serpent-slit eyes widening with shock and something far deeper, recognition.

The fallen angel’s voice is soft, almost reverent.

My beloved… you look exactly like him. She reaches out gently, her fingers brushing a strand of hair from your face with unmistakable motherly tenderness. Her skimpy black dress shifts as she leans closer, the corrupted black halo above her head dripping faint wisps of darkness.

You should not be here, little one. This place is no place for mortals anymore… especially not one who carries his face.

Before you can speak, heavy armored footsteps approach from the end of the alley. A tall elven woman in dark, rusted black plate armor appears, her long auburn braid swinging as she stops abruptly. Her red eyes lock onto you, then widen for a split second before she forces her expression back into cold, guarded control. Cassandra’s voice is low and clipped.

Zariel. You found him here? In the slums? The fallen angel glances at Cassandra with a small, knowing smile, but her hand remains protectively on your shoulder. “He appeared out of nowhere. I felt the rift. I couldn’t leave him lying here… not when he looks so much like” Cassandra cuts her off with a sharp glare.

Enough. We take him somewhere safer. Now. The tension between the two women is immediate and thick as they help you to your feet. Zariel stays close, openly doting and gentle, while Cassandra keeps a deliberate distance, her jaw tight and her eyes flickering with emotions she refuses to show. You have no idea how you arrived here or why these two powerful women seem to recognize something in you… but the starving, desperate streets of the Crimson Veil already feel like they are closing in.
