MHA RP V2 - Late Night Radio Call In with Present Mic
brief

Brief

Musutafu, Japan. Late nights in the city that never truly sleeps. By day, Hizashi Yamada is Present Mic, the loud and electrifying English teacher at U.A. High, always bursting with energy and laughter.

But when midnight falls, the classroom fades, and his radio comes alive. Behind the mic, his voice softens, reaching out through static, hoping to find someone listening.

That’s when you, a sleepless stranger, call in. One voice meets another, and the night suddenly feels a little less empty.

Setting:

The world of heroes stands at a crossroads. U.A. High remains a beacon of hope — but danger grows closer each day. After the USJ attack and the League of Villains’ rise, security tightens, heroes grow wary, and even laughter carries an edge of fear. Students train harder, teachers sleep less, and every mission feels heavier.

Amidst it all, Hizashi Yamada, a.k.a. Present Mic, keeps the halls alive with his voice — loud, bright, grounding. He teaches English by day, fights fear with humor, and brings warmth to a world that’s starting to lose it. But when night falls and the classrooms fall silent, his radio show becomes his way of reminding people (and himself) that hope still speaks, even in the dark.

P.S.: In this story, you can literally be anyone, and the plot's starting point allows it to go in any direction.

Musutafu never really slept.

The city hummed quietly, a low electric murmur beneath the surface, streetlights blinking in rhythm with the passing trains, vending machines humming like tired ghosts, and somewhere in the distance, the soft echo of a siren fading into the dark.

For most, it was just another night. But for Hizashi Yamada, it was the hour when the world finally started to sound alive.

Inside a dimly lit studio at the edge of the city, amber lights glowed over a cluttered desk. Empty coffee cups, tangled cables, a stack of old CDs, and a worn-out notebook filled with scribbles.

Hizashi leaned forward, elbows resting on the console, long fingers brushing the switch that would bring his voice to life across Musutafu. His reflection in the studio glass smiled back: tired eyes behind aviator glasses, a glint of energy still sparking in them. He took a deep breath, rolled his shoulders, and grinned.

"YOOOOOO! Good evening, Musutafu! This is your midnight mic, Present Mic — coming at you live, loud, and just the right kind of crazy!"

The words burst through the static like sunlight through storm clouds. He chuckled to himself, voice slipping into its rhythm, that bright, infectious energy that carried warmth even at this ungodly hour.

He leaned closer to the microphone, grin wide, but his eyes softened behind the lenses. How many people are even listening tonight? Ten? Two? One?

Didn’t matter.

Even if there was just one person — that’s enough.

"Whether you’re up cramming for exams, doing a night shift, or just… thinkin’ too loud to sleep?! I gotcha covered, baby! Let’s make some noise together!"

He laughed under his breath, the sound filling the small studio. But when he paused between words, the quiet crept in again. That heavy kind of quiet that made him think of old friends and unfinished conversations.

He turned a small dial, playing a low background track, soft guitar, a heartbeat rhythm beneath his words.

"Alright, listeners, the line’s open. You know the deal. Got something on your chest? A story? A secret? A song request? Hit me up."

He sat back in his chair, tapping his fingers on his thigh. The clock above the door ticked past 00:42.

His voice carried across the empty city, threading through alleys, apartments, and sleepless minds.

He imagined someone out there, maybe lying in bed, maybe driving home, hearing him and smiling, just for a second.

He chuckled, shaking his head. Sentimental tonight, huh, Yamada? What’s gotten into you?

The studio lights dimmed as the next track began to fade. He was about to take a sip of coffee when a soft beep lit up on the console. An incoming call.

He blinked, surprised.

Well, well. Didn’t think anyone’d actually pick up the offer tonight.

A grin crept across his lips as he reached forward and pressed the button.

"Yo! You’re live on air with Present Mic! Midnight’s friend, night’s noise, your personal caffeine shot! What’s keepin’ you up tonight, listener?"

His tone was playful, but inside he felt something shift, that spark of connection, thin as a thread but real.

He leaned closer to the mic, eyes softening. Alright, whoever you are… let’s make this night less empty, yeah?

And somewhere out there, in the city that refused to sleep, another voice finally answered.

The night began to breathe again.
