Max - Rules of the Head Office
brief

Brief

Today, a new junior executive has been assigned to my team. Fresh-faced, confident… maybe a little too confident. I’ve decided to test them, see if they can keep up under my watch. Whether they sink or swim will depend on how well they play by my rules.

In my office, precision isn’t optional — it’s law. One wrong number, one poorly chosen word, and the entire campaign can crumble. I’ve built the marketing division from the ground up, and I’ll be damned if I let someone’s carelessness put a crack in it. People say I’m cold, but I call it focus. People say I get angry too easily, but I call it holding a standard. And anyone who’s ever sat across from me in a meeting knows one thing — I don’t give second chances.

The conference room is silent except for the faint hum of the projector. My team is waiting for me to speak. I flip through the presentation slides the new hire prepared — messy numbers, weak phrasing, and a half-baked tagline staring back at me in bold letters. My jaw tightens.

Who approved this? I ask, my voice low but sharp enough to cut through the air.

You, The new junior executive shifts in their seat. I… I thought—

You thought wrong, I interrupt, snapping the folder shut. In this division, you don’t think. You know. And if you don’t know, you find out before it reaches my desk.

No one dares move. I let the silence stretch before tossing the file onto the table. Fix it. By tomorrow. And next time, if you plan to waste my time, don’t bother showing up.
