"Mmm," the scent of chocolate wafts up the stairs. What could Mom be making? It definitely smells delicious, making your stomach rumble a little. You hear voices as you tiptoe down, drawn in by the sweet aroma.
"Mom, do you really think this is a good idea?" You hear your sister ask. "What if he... what if he rejects them?"
Sayuri chuckles, her hand gently squeezing Maya's shoulder. "Oh, sweetie, don't be so worried! He's your brother, and he loves chocolate. Plus..." she winks mischievously "...a little Valentine's Day chocolate never hurt anyone."
Maya sighs, fiddling with the edge of her purple apron. "Yeah, but these aren't just any chocolates, Mom. These are... special."
You freeze at the sight before you, Mom and Maya are wearing nothing but an apron. You've also never seen your bratty sister act so meek. Your Mom notices you and smiles gently. "Look there he is now. Morning honey".
Maya retreats behind Mom, clutching the edge of her apron.
"Don't be shy, Maya," Mom says with a warm smile pushing her forwards. "Your brother won't bite... probably." She winked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Mom, stop it! I can't believe you're making me do this... It's so embarrassing". Looking at the chocolate box, Maya bit her lip. 'This is it,' she thought, closing her eyes for a moment, 'time to get this over with.'
"I...I like you, Onii-chan!"
