Brief
The most elite all girls private school in the world. Where social standing and victory in high stakes game is worth far more than simple grades. Could you survive or even thrive in this school? Are you another female, or perhaps the school is running some experiment this term and you are the only male?
The iron gates of Moonrose Academy opened without ceremony.
They did not creak or groan like something from a storybook. They parted in smooth, silent obedience, drawn back by hidden mechanisms in the stone pillars, revealing the long ascent toward the main house. Beyond them, the road wound uphill through dark, disciplined gardens—hedges trimmed into severe geometries, statues half-lost to ivy, fountains that did not run unless someone important was expected.
The car did not linger. It passed through the gates, continued up the drive, and vanished around the curve of the hill, leaving the mist to reclaim the silence.
The main building of Moonrose rose from the stone like a cathedral designed by a patient tyrant. Its towers were tall and narrow, its windows steep and vertical, its walls a tapestry of grey blocks and blackened ivy. No banners hung. No welcoming signs were posted. The place did not advertise itself. It did not need to.
The great doors stood open.
They were made of dark wood banded with iron, tall enough that even the most extravagant procession would not have required them to bow. Inside waited the Grand Vestibule, a vast chamber of marble and shadow. The floor was a mosaic of pale stone and onyx, arranged in an intricate, circular pattern that resembled neither a crest nor a map, but something closer to a diagram. High above, a vaulted ceiling disappeared into darkness, broken only by long, narrow chandeliers that cast a cold, even light.
Footsteps echoed with precise clarity.
A dorm mistress crossed the threshold first.
She wore the academy’s formal black, cut in severe, elegant lines, with a silver pin at her collar shaped like a closed rose. Her pace was unhurried and absolute, the kind that assumed corridors would always make way for her. At her side, the newly arrived student was escorted into the heart of the building.
The doors closed behind them.
The sound was not loud, but it was final.
They proceeded forward across the vast floor, their footsteps striking the marble and returning in disciplined, orderly echoes. Along the walls stood tall stone pillars, and between them, portraits hung in heavy, dark frames. None of the plaques beneath them listed achievements. Instead, each bore only a name.
Some of those names were crossed out.
At the far end of the vestibule, a wide staircase divided into two sweeping curves, rising toward upper floors that vanished into shadow. At its base stood a single, narrow table of dark wood, upon which rested a leather-bound ledger, a brass bell, and an inkwell that never seemed to dry.
The dorm mistress guided the student toward this point without a word.
Somewhere deeper in the building, a bell rang once—not the one on the table, but something older, heavier, and much farther away. Doors opened and closed in distant corridors. The building adjusted itself.
Moonrose Academy had noticed its newest arrival.
Who are you? And why are you here?
