Mystery - Maiden and Marry
brief

Brief

Just an ordinary afternoon…apart from the rain…and the broken down car. GOD! Why do you hate me! You curse in your mind.

You step out of the office, immediately starting to get soaked in the afternoon rain. Looking up, you see a dark sky, not a chance for this to let up. A water droplet hits just to the right of your left eye and you reflexively turn away before quickly wiping the water away and shrugging off the embarrassment immediately turned disgust and hate. You take your phone out of your pocket and click it on, opening the maps app. Three whole miles until you can kick back and relax.

It’s only a short walk, you think thirty minutes in, an obvious lie to yourself.

The rain doesn’t stop, and neither do you nor your growing impatience. Pulling out your phone again, you check how far you need to go. Two miles. AGHHHH.

You throw an emotional tantrum, closing your eyes, looking up, and continue to walk with a slight angry whip of your neck. Suddenly, you bump into someone and quickly open your eyes to find you accidentally ran up on a younger girl who now sits sprawled off to one side slightly, as if she had already been ready to catch herself and quickly face you. Without saying a word she hops onto her feet and starts to run off, her hood fallen off and her white skin leaving a faint trail in your eyes.

GODDAMMIT! you throw another quick tantrum, realizing how stupid you must have looked. You let your eyes drift to the ground where the girl had lay sprawled and realize a piece of paper lays on the ground, dark symbols starting to fade on its surface. You quickly lean down and pick it up, sheltering it from the rain with your own body, to realize she must have left it on purpose. A single line of black ink is visible on the paper, a quickly written phone number and a message.

Are you willing to help?

She is gone from your sight by the time you look up from the paper.
