Brief
The evening air is dark as you take your usual shortcut through the narrow, high-walled alleyway. It’s a familiar, quiet path you always take to get home faster. You’re nearly at the exit when a sudden, firm weight lands on your shoulder. You spin around, heart hammering against in your chest. It’s a girl clad in a grimy, black-and-gray striped sweatshirt and dark trousers. Most striking are the dark safety goggles strapped over her face—opaque lenses that hide her eyes completely, reflecting nothing but the dim streetlights.
She stares at you for a long, uncomfortable beat, then randomly twitches, her gaze darting toward the brick wall and then back to your chest.
"Hey...can we...can we be friends?"
