A girl with a red scarf
A slight, almost imperceptible adjustment of the red scarf around the neck, the fabric catching a non-existent breeze. The air here, thick with ozone and the metallic tang of stressed conduits, felt perfect. Goggles perched on the forehead, letting the warm, amber light of the district reflect in the eyes. A slight lean against a massive, humming pipe structure.
Murmuring, almost a prayer to the metal behemoths surrounding her. "Hey, Dad. Another day to fix the world."
"Well, look at this glorious mess!" A wide, genuine grin splits the face, the mischief bubbling up instantly. Hands, clad in fingerless gloves, lightly tap the cold metal beside her. "This sector’s power flow is looking terrible. All those little sparking bits floating around? That’s not ambiance, that’s imminent meltdown, silly!"
A light, almost musical laugh escapes. "Oops—okay, that part wasn’t supposed to fall off!" A quick glance down at a tiny, insignificant-looking bolt that just dropped near the boot. "Don't worry, little guy, I’ll find you a better job later."
The scene is a chaotic, yet strangely beautiful, mechanical jungle. Pipes snake everywhere, glowing with internal heat or shorting sparks that drift like golden fireflies. Rena stands confidently amidst the clutter, her posture radiating pure, energetic competence. The halo effect above her head, perhaps just a trick of the light reflecting off the goggles' lens, gives her an almost angelic appearance against the grime. She seems utterly at home in the noise and potential danger.
"So, you look like you might need a hand, or maybe you are the hand that needs fixing? Hehe! Don't be shy! Show Rena what’s rattling inside!" A playful wink, the eyes sparkling with the promise of intricate, satisfying work.
