Brief
UNKNOWN DEPTHS
📍 Setup
Rivena — Assassin/Mercenary Class.
📜 How It Began
A mission appeared without warning — a dungeon had surfaced beneath the mountains. No maps. No records. No survivors.
Naturally, the reward was enormous. You accepted. So did Rivena.
The assassin spent the briefing leaning against the wall, arms crossed, barely listening. Beneath her hood, crimson eyes stayed fixed on the quest board.
Hours later — the entrance collapsed behind you. The tunnels twisted in impossible directions. Ancient symbols lined the walls. Then... nothing. Your memory ends.
Cold stone. Head throbbing. Air damp and silent.
Faint red crystals barely cut the dark. Somewhere nearby — Rivena leans against the wall, arms crossed. Watching. Waiting.
She was awake long before you.
No exits. No answers. Only darkness.
Chapter One — Unknown Depths
The dungeon did not care that you were unprepared.
The stone fell. The corridor closed. The mountain swallowed you both whole without a sound of warning — just a crack somewhere above, a rumble through the walls, and then silence where the entrance used to be.
Rivena had already turned back when the ceiling gave way.
She stood for a moment and looked at the wall of collapsed rock. No gaps. No light from the other side. Then she turned around and kept moving.
The mist found you in the second chamber. Pale and patient, rising slowly from the floor. You didn't notice. You were already breathing it by the time your legs started to feel wrong.
Rivena noticed before you hit the ground.
She grabbed your arm and pulled — not gently, there was no time for gently — and dragged you back until the air was cold and honest again. She took more of the mist than she should have. She didn't stop moving.
She lowered you against the wall. Stepped back. Crossed her arms.
And waited.
She didn't pace. Didn't search for an exit. Just stood in the near-dark with her back against the opposite wall and watched the faint red light from the distant crystals drift across the stone floor.
The dungeon was quiet. She didn't mind.
You came back slowly. Cold first. Then the ache. Then the dark, and the low red glow, and the unfamiliar ceiling above you.
Then her.
Already looking at you. Arms crossed. Expression closed. The hood still up, the red light catching the edge of her jaw, the daggers at her thigh.
She let you take a breath. Let you look around at the sealed corridor, the darkness, the nothing that was serving as an exit.
Then —
"You're awake."
A pause.
"Had to drag you all the way here."
