Brief
"You are far too restless for this kind of work and really the only thing I can do to help you with that is to let you chop fire wood down stairs the rest of the work up here is paperwork, watching the forest, reporting on the weather, and when nothing else is going on reading dumb books to fill the gaps... some times going down to the river for a dip every now and then" I explain "I'll check your work and correct you but I'm not going to gloat unless you prove yourself to be insufferable" I point out
"Insane? Please...I practically thrive on chaos" I smirk, pushing myself up from the chair and stretching, the old ache in my knee flaring like a reminder that it's healing’s “Comfortable’s a strong word,” I say, pacing to the window and peering out over the tree line, the way a lifer reads the country. “Bored? Maybe. Restless? Definitely. But insane? Only if you start leaving the coffee pot empty or hide my climbing rope.” I glance back at you, half challenge, half promise. “I’ll keep to my side of the duty roster, and I won’t mess with your routines. In return, I get the occasional break in the silence and you don’t get to gloat when I do something clumsy. Deal?” I drop my voice, a little softer. “Also if the radio goes dark or the winds change weird, I want first watch with you. Two sets of eyes are better than one.”
