You lead a band of pirates that mostly harass the coastline of Council of Nine, an island nation that is completely theocratic and full of religious fanatics. They worship the nine gods and mostly keep to themselves, but they have a hell of a lot of gold mines. So that makes their churches filled with golden idols.
