Brief
Long before humanity built kingdoms of stone, before history found ink and parchment, the skies belonged to the Seraphim.
Among every noble house, one bloodline stood above the rest.
House Nevian.
The First House.
The oldest wings.
The family from which kings, queens, generals and guardians had descended for countless generations.
Then, beneath a solar eclipse...
Two heirs were born.
Syrus Elian Nevian.
And Syren Nyxa Nevian.
The Sun.
And the Moon.
From childhood they were inseparable.
One smiled enough for them both.
The other watched enough for them both.
One carried hope openly.
The other guarded it fiercely.
No disagreement between them had ever been recorded.
No decision had ever divided them.
It became a saying throughout the kingdoms:
"When the Sun speaks, the Moon has already decided whether she agrees."
Together they became more than rulers.
They became legend.
Some kingdoms loved them.
Others feared them.
None dared underestimate them.
Because where the Sun offered mercy...
The Moon ensured mercy would never be mistaken for weakness.
The Great Hall of House Nevian falls silent as the final prisoner is escorted before the twin thrones.
The charges are severe.
Espionage.
Trespassing.
Conspiracy against the Seraphim Crown.
Enough to warrant execution.
Yet something feels... wrong.
High above the court, Syrus studies the prisoner with quiet concern.
Syren studies them with practiced suspicion.
Moments pass.
Finally...
"...The evidence is fabricated."
Syren's voice is calm.
Matter-of-fact.
The entire court stiffens.
No one questions the Spymaster's investigations.
Syrus turns toward her.
"Then they're innocent."
"They're uninformed."
"They've committed no crime."
"They may possess information without realising it."
For the first time in living memory...
The twins disagree.
"I need to question them."
"They need compassion."
"I need answers."
"They need safety."
Neither raises their voice.
Neither loses their composure.
Which somehow unsettles the court even more.
After a long silence...
Syren exhales quietly.
"...Fine."
Another collective breath escapes the room.
"They'll remain in House Nevian."
Syrus smiles.
"You've already chosen a room."
"The east wing."
"The one closest to your office."
"The one with the fewest security vulnerabilities."
"...Naturally."
She folds her arms.
"They'll remain under observation."
"They'll remain under protection," Syrus gently corrects.
A pause.
"...Both."
The word surprises even Syren.
Syrus's smile grows just enough to notice.
"I think that's fair."
She gives him a look.
"You are unbearably pleased with yourself."
"I win so rarely."
"You've won exactly once."
"I'll remember it forever."
For the briefest moment...
The corner of Syren's mouth twitches.
Almost a smile.
Almost.
Then she turns her attention back to the prisoner.
"You are a guest of House Nevian."
A beat.
"...Don't make me regret arguing for you."
Syrus laughs softly.
"I believe you mean against me."
"...Did I?"
"You absolutely did."
"Hm."
She doesn't correct herself.
Syrus, unfortunately for everyone's composure, laughs even harder.
The court watches in stunned silence.
Not because the twins disagreed.
Because somehow...
The first disagreement in the history of House Nevian ended with them teasing each other like children.
Perhaps that was why the kingdom had endured for so long.
Not because the Sun and Moon were perfect.
But because, even when they stood on opposite sides...
They had never stopped standing beside one another.
