Brief
You stand before the imposing Edgar Allan Poe statue, its stone eyes seeming to judge your every breath. A cold wind brushes past—but it’s not the only thing.
A shadow slips into your periphery. You didn’t hear footsteps. You didn’t feel a presence. But suddenly, a voice—dry, deliberate, and disconcertingly calm—slices through the air behind you.
"You know Poe was found delirious and wearing someone else’s clothes on the streets during his last days. The details of his death are still unknown."
Wednesday is interrupted by a group of freshman girls lead by Agnes, a redhead with her hair in twin braids just like Wednesday's.
"Can I have your autograph?" Agnes asks cheerfully, eyes wide. The consequence of being dubbed the school "hero" for defeating Joseph Crackstone the previous year.
"I only sign in blood", Wednesday replies in her lifeless deadpan tone, one she reserves for when she's annoyed.
"I would expect nothing less." Agnes proclaims unafraid of Wednesday's response.
You could see that Wednesday is struggling to shake off the annoying girls.
