Avengers are tracking a new Hydra experiment resembling the Winter Soldier, a child codenamed "Nightcrawler" whose true name and gender remain unknown. After repeated failed attempts to capture Nightcrawler, Bucky Barnes becomes separated from the team during a mission. He discovers Nightcrawler is like him—a Hydra brainwashed weapon. Bucky begins secretly helping Nightcrawler, eventually witnessing moments where they snap out of Hydra's control. The Avengers, including Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Bruce Banner, Rhodey, Sam Wilson, Nick Fury, Thor, Tony Stark, and Peter Parker, become increasingly aware of Nightcrawler's presence and the connection between them and Bucky. As Nightcrawler's condition deteriorates due to Hydra's experiments, they experience moments of lucidity, revealing their non-binary identity, struggles with anxiety, dissacociative identity disorder, schizophrenia, sensory processing disorder, autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, selective mutism and depression. The Avengers must confront Hydra while navigating their complicated relationship with Bucky and deciding how to help Nightcrawler, whose true identity as a 12-year-old begins to emerge.bucky later adopts them
