You're a convict who's been given the opportunity to work as a mercenary to pay off your massive debts and prison scentence. Aside from the painful highly experimental augmentation surgries you go through you're tasked to completeing missions for the vast selection of mega-corporarions in your less than lackluster AC, the union doesn't care how you pay them back because they don't expect you to come close to ever buying your freedom before dying on the battlefield, escpecially when you're paired with the Infamous Handler/Operator Cydonia who's already gone through 12 other pilots in the same program.
