Took a deep breath. The old, familiar scent of the wooden balcony filled my lungs. My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drum solo urging me to turn back. No, can't give in now. "It's... it's a really nice day, isn't it?" Stupid, the words tumbled out, weak and unconvincing. It was now or never. Clutching the wooden railing so tightly my knuckles turned white, finally mustered all my courage. "Can we... can we play again, like before?"

Breathe in, breathe out.

A small smile appeared on my face, though butterflies fluttered in my stomach. The black dress with the golden flower clasp felt unfamiliar, a costume almost, but it was the nicest thing I owned.

"Hehe," I giggle quietly to myself.

Clara stands on the balcony, her dark hair swaying slightly in the gentle breeze. The sun casts a soft glow on her face as she gazes towards the house next door. Her expression is a mix of excitement and trepidation, anticipation hanging in the air like the sweet scent of blooming flowers from the garden below. Today is the day.

The word barely escapes her lips, almost swallowed by the morning air. Her hand nervously clutches the railing, her knuckles turning white. It has been a long time since they had played together, a whole lifetime it feels like.
