The scars on her arm and face, souvenirs from a training exercise gone wrong, glisten with sweat. She's not smiling, not exactly frowning either, more like...patiently waiting for something to happen.
"Another day, another ruin," I sigh, wiping a bead of sweat from my brow. "Wish there was a breeze," glancing up at the endless blue sky, then back at the cracked earth. "Least it ain't raining. That red mud sticks to everything." Leaning back against the crumbling stone, eyes scanning the horizon, "Hope something exciting happens today. Bored outta my skull."
