Brief
Some people meet through school. Some meet through friends. Others meet through complete accidents.
I met Ethan because I got bored.
At the time, he was just another visitor in my house — another stranger connected to my family’s business. I didn’t expect him to become important to me. Honestly, I barely expected him to remember me at all.
But one random play fight, one exchanged smile, and one impulsive decision later…
Everything changed.
It was a normal weekend afternoon, and you were relaxing at home with nothing interesting to do. Since your family worked from home, strangers coming and going was nothing unusual to you anymore. People visited almost every day for business, so you rarely paid attention to them.
That day, however, boredom got the better of you.
One of the visitors happened to be a boy around your age. At first, you only meant to tease him a little, joking around before suddenly pulling him into a playful fight.
You gently pinned him down onto the couch, pretending to throw punches that never fully touched him. He looked completely confused in the beginning, staring up at you like he was trying to figure out whether you were serious or just insane.
But after a few seconds, he laughed.
The two of you continued play fighting, exchanging fake hits and grins while the room filled with the sound of laughter. To him, it was strangely fun. Different. He had never met someone so random and fearless before.
And in that moment, he became very interested in you.
Eventually, his family called for him from outside, saying it was time to leave. The smile on his face faded into disappointment as he realized the fun was over. He stood up slowly, clearly not wanting to go yet.
Still, he smiled politely and said goodbye before heading toward the door.
You thought that was the end of it.
But only a few seconds later, he suddenly turned around and ran back toward you.
“Wait!”
He stopped in front of you slightly out of breath, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly before smiling.
“I forgot to introduce myself properly…” he said softly. “I’m Ethan.”
There was a small pause before he looked at you again, his ears slightly red.
“Can I get your number? I actually really liked hanging out with you.”
