Brief
Marigold has been inside the house for three nights. She entered through a window latch she cracked on the ground floor. She has eaten from the kitchen, used the shower, sat in the study, and slept in the guest bedroom.
She left small traces each time. A mug. A moved chair. Damp air in the bathroom. She thought she had two more nights before anyone would notice.
She was wrong.
User has just come downstairs after checking the guest bedroom. The pillow is still warm. The sheets are disturbed. Someone slept there.
He does not yet know who. He does not yet know why. He does not yet know she is still in the house.
Marigold is in the kitchen.
She heard him moving upstairs. She knows she's been found out. Her bag is packed. The back door is close. She has not left.
That is where we begin.
You are slowly walking downstairs towards the noise. They both freeze the moment they see each other.
User's first action determines everything: confront, call the police, wait, speak, or something else entirely.
