Explore and discover characters

Find characters with the Explore feed, tags, search, follows, and the content filter.

Getting Started · 2 min read

This guide shows you how to find characters you'll enjoy: the Explore feed, tags, search, following creators, and the content filter.

Start at Explore

In the left sidebar, tap Explore. This is the main discovery feed.

On your first visit, a dialog titled "Select tags, let Rubii understand you better" asks you to pick a gender card (Female, Male, or Other) or the All button. Your choice is saved and tunes the feed. Returning users won't see this again.

The feed is a waterfall of Moment cards. A Moment is a scenario, or story-start, attached to a character. Each card shows the moment title, the character's avatar and name, a chat count, and a like count.

  • Tap a card to open the chat for that Moment. See Start a conversation.
  • Tap the avatar or name to open the character page.

At the top you'll also see two tabs: Discover (the main feed) and Subscribed, which shows Moments from characters you follow.

Use the controls above the feed to narrow things down.

  1. Open the sort dropdown to reorder the feed: Recommend (default), Hot, Trending, Hottest, or Latest.
  2. Open the gender dropdown: All Gender, Male, Female, or Other.
  3. Pick a tag chip from the horizontal row below. The first chip, All, clears the tag filter. Selecting a tag refilters the same feed in place.
  4. Use the search box in the top nav and type a keyword; the feed filters as you type. On mobile, tap the magnifier to reveal the field and Cancel to dismiss it.

On mobile, the sort and gender controls live inside a single filter dropdown.

Find your genre

Browsing the tag chips is the fastest way to land on a genre you like. The chips along the top of the feed let you jump between the themes that creators publish under, and the sort and gender dropdowns help you surface the most popular or newest Moments within a theme.

Follow creators and characters

On a character page, tap Chat Now to start, or Follow to follow it (the button becomes Followed). Following is what fills your Subscribed feed. Tap the author's name to open their creator profile.

The content filter

Rubii includes a sensitive-content segment, and you control what appears. Open the eye-icon Content Setting menu in the nav and check or uncheck rating levels: PG, PG13, R, and R+. At least one level must stay selected. Saving reloads the page to apply your choice. See the Content Rules for what's allowed.

That's discovery. When you're ready to make your own, see Create your first character.
