Rubii is your space to chat, role-play, and create stories with AI characters that feel alive. There are thousands of community-made characters to talk to, and the tools to build your own. This short guide covers what you can do and where to start.
What you can do on Rubii
- Chat with characters — Talk one-on-one with community-made characters across many genres, from fantasy and adventure to slice-of-life and romance. You can also chat with characters you create. See Start a conversation.
- Start from Moments — A Moment is a scenario, or story-start, attached to a character. It holds the opening line and the scene. A character can have several Moments, and you begin a chat by picking one. See Moments: scenarios and story starts.
- Create your own characters — Set a name, an image, the private Character Settings that drive how it responds, and an optional voice, then publish it with its first Moment. See Create your first character.
- Use Personas — A Persona is your own roleplay identity in a chat: a nickname the character calls you, plus a short description of who you are. See Using personas.
- Generate images and video — Make visuals in the Create section using the Image and Video generators. See Generate images and video.
- Voice — Give a character a voice, and play back its spoken lines in chat. See Voice.
Your first five minutes
- Open Explore in the left navigation to browse the feed of Moment cards. See Explore and discover characters.
- Tap any card that interests you to open the chat. The Opening message starts the scene.
- Type in the Send a message box at the bottom, then press the send button. Write naturally, as if you are texting.
- Guide the story in your own words. Describe actions as you like and reply to what the character says.
- On a character page, press Chat Now to begin, or Follow to keep it for later.
Good to know
- You are the co-author. The more context you give, the more the character has to work with.
- Nothing is final. On the latest reply you can Regenerate for a different take, or edit any message.
- Chatting and generating media spend Rubies, the in-app currency. Membership tiers (Rubii Plus) add monthly Rubies and a daily free quota. See Rubies and Rubii Plus.
- A sensitive-content filter lets you choose which maturity levels appear in your feed. Review the Content Rules before you create or share.
